The Latest Fad In Pop culture-Train Horns

by Yves B. Geller

Extending one’s expression of style to his vehicle has always been a part of popular culture or pop culture. Although fads may be short-lived, what’s important is that ideas were expressed and shown in a unique or strangest way as possible. Car styling has been known to create fads in creating agreeable and unconventional methods of beefing up the appearance of vehicles. From window tinting to trim applications, vehicles have developed a sense of fashion depending on which trend is currently popularized. For instance, the inclusion of train horns in street vehicles inevitably roused positive and negative impressions. The fads created by train horns in pop culture appeal to the artistry, image and annoyance of various groups of people.

The conventional uses of train horns are for signaling or cautionary applications. It is once used in trains to caution its presence and proximity to stations and into sports to cue certain actions in the game proceedings. Today, deviant behaviors brought the use of train horns into custom designed vehicles. To enjoy louder, aggressive and intimidating honking down the street, some vehicle owners have replaced original car horns with the monstrous pipes of customized train horns.

Although some people may not understand why certain vehicle owners spend a lot of money in restyling and modifying their vehicles, some perceive the act as a matter of self-gratifying expressions. While having wing doors and lowered car frames and bumpers may seem sleek and original to some group, some would differ from their preferences. All of this is a matter of expressions of views towards the existing popular culture. The popularity of using train horns as truck or car horns exemplified the impact of the fad brought by train horns in popular culture.

The train horn can be used in many ways as a medium of expression. It could be used in a noisy classroom to bring about immediate silence. It can be used on telemarketers or other harassing callers, who, after hearing a loud train horn on the phone, might abstain from calling in future. It can also be used in music, blended with other instruments, especially in genres like reggae or reggae hybrid. The most popular application of the train horn, however, remains its use as a truck horn.

As is common with other fads, train horns too soon turned into a problem for some people. Those who installed these horns did so to improve the performance and the impression of their vehicles. But the sound that these horns made while the vehicles went down highways and streets was extremely loud. It came to a point where policemen were ordered to implement an ordinance against those who used train horns in place of conventional ones. The main concern was a safe drive and the maintenance of peace and quiet in neighborhoods. Train horns have become quite an unique commodity that only a few vehicles possess or can afford to possess. Although it is true that one cannot deny somebody their right of self expression, it is also true that exercising this right should not cause harm or disturbance to any other person. Therefore, in the best interest of every body concerned, the train horn should be used, but in a wiser and more appropriate way.
