Useful Tips For CD Troubleshooting

A journey without music in your will be so unpleasant. It will also be a dull road travel. This happens when there exists a problem in your car CD player. But when such a problem arises one will always think about the cost of repair that would jump onto his head when he approaches a service station with his problem of car CD troubleshooting. But do not worry. Before you try to head away to the service station do check out for few faults on your own just by following the simple procedures given below. This may possibly help one to diagnose the problem for trouble shooting and then the repair for it.

The first thing that should be done in trouble shooting is to find out the specific problem. One of the easy things that could help finding the defect is by checking whether the radio works properly or you can check the output volume of all speakers and check whether they are all equal. Once the specific defect is identified, the solution can be easily reached.

There are certain simple remedies to find the defects. First is to check the fade and balance control, this helps to find out which all speaker is working and which are not working. The power cables must be checked when the CD player does not switch on or if the display is fully blank. Another thing to be done is to ensure whether all the fuses are in good condition.

The reason for not receiving the sound in the speaker may be due to break in flow of current through it. Buy a radio shack from any electronics shop and use it to check the current flow through the wires for speakers. The speaker’s grill covers are unscrewed and snapped off. And then the mounted speakers are also removed.

The alligator clips are attached to speaker wires. As the current entering the speaker may not produce the sound you may get an indication that it is a blown speaker. If such an indication does not come then probably there might be a broken wire. Rather than locating the old wire and repairing the fault it is desirable to put a new wire to the speaker.

The last thing that needs to be checked is the harness of the wiring under the dash board . Use flash light to do this. If everything is fine, the positive cable is disconnected from the battery of the car and leave it like that for a minimum of ten minutes. This time gap is given for the player to come back to the conditions in which it was preset in the factory.

If any playback problem is present, the harness of the player must be checked. If there is no problem with the harness the connections can be removed from the battery for few minutes. This would reset the controls and might be helpful in solving issues.

Above steps can be followed to find the trouble in the CD player. But to prevent further problem it is essential to clean the CD before use with the help of soft cloth and a solvent. These are few steps of car CD troubleshooting.

How Car Air Suspension Works!

Shock absorbers don’t really absorb shock, they dampen it. Why is this important for you to know? To improve ride quality, or in the case of a tow-able RV, the “white knuckle” factor induced by trailer bounce and sway, it is necessary to understand a little regarding the dynamics a shock absorber attempts to manage. This mod discusses both ride dynamics and issues related with the item, in addition to to know how to mod your RV to drastically develop your driving and/or towing understanding.

Basically put, a shock absorbers sole purpose is to dampen the compression and rebound of any suspension system by controlling the speed at which a suspension cycles. Without them, your RV would continue to bounce up and down until the kinetic energy is finally dissipated from the suspension’s springs (e.g. leaf springs, coil springs, torsion bar, etc.). Now let’s think about the law of conservation of energy. With this law in mind, shocks will perform two functions. The first function is to slow the suspension’s cycling of compressing or rebounding. Secondly, since energy can’t be destroyed, the shock transforms the kinetic energy into heat as it dampens the “bouncing” of the springs. That’s it. That’s what a shock does.

So why is this important? The the greater part of tow-able RVs don’t are available from the factory with shock absorbers! And while class A, B, and C motor homes do have shocks, they are often times barely adequate to control the suspension, causing wandering and excessive side-to-side motion on uneven surfaces.

To install shock absorbers on a tow-able RV, a retrofit kit is generally needed, although some tow-able currently have the state of mind and shackle tabs necessary. A retrofit kit contains bracketry and hardware necessary to easily install the shocks. These kits use a plate that mounts to the bottom of the leaf spring shackles and has a tab for the bottom of the shock to mount to. The top mount for the shock attaches to the frame. It is often essential to drill a hole in the frame in order to bolt the top shock mount to. This sounds scary to do but there is generally enough frame material that the hole drilled won’t weaken the frame any significant amount.

For torsion type axles, like the Dexter brand, the retrofit kits are a little different. Since there are no shackles, you must either replace the torsion arm link (from the axle housing to the spindle) with one that has a lower shock mount, or have a tab welded to the torsion arm link. The upper mount can either be drilled through the frame or an additional mounting tab will need to be welded to the frame. Much depends on your particular axle arrangement, though most torsion axle setups are generally the same.

Motor homes are a little different. Since they already come equipped with shock absorbers, replacing them is all that is important. It’s much mod you possibly can commonly fix by yourself as all that is generally involved is, using basic hand tools, to unbolt the shocks from their mounts and replace them using the reverse order used during removal. There may be some bolt corrosion to deal with but a little penetrating fluid sprayed on a half hour or so before bolt removal will make things much easier. If you have a motor home that has struts (like a Sprinter) instead of independent springs and shocks, you should have a qualified suspension professional do the job. Special tools are needed to compress the strut assembly if you want to remove and replace the shock cartridge.

Tip: When fitting a tow-able RV with shocks using a retrofit kit, you will have to ensure you know how long of a shock you need beforehand as the upper mount point can vary from trailer to trailer. A close guesstimate is to measure from the lower shackle plate to the middle of the frame rail. If you opt for the kit which includes shocks, make certain this measurement is within the working range of the shocks supplied with the kit.

Hide Wiring In A Professional Vehicle Stereo Installation

Everyone aims of owning a car which has a cool, stylish, professional car stereo. In those cases one would consider wiring as the last option for his car. Noise suppression must be made in it so as to increase its aesthetics and performance of the car stereo. For this you must have the wire hidden as much as possible. But how to hide the wiring in auto stereo installation?

The wiring can be concealed with the help of the following things. The tubing material is very important. A knife to cut the wires, few clamps to hold it, drilling machine and few bits are also needed. To stick the wires in a safer spot Velcro tapes and screws are required. The following steps can be done with little supervision and safety precautions must also be taken.

The main wires from the battery connections are to be hid first. This is the most important thing to be to be done initially. For accomplishing this the car’s engine compartment is to be fitted with a specially designed plug. The wires are held in place by the small clamps and by using this and sheet metal screws one can install it to the frame of the car. Holes are drilled to fix these.

The next step involves the closing of tubing up by the zip ties. It is placed in a position about two to three feet below the flexible cable tubing. To avoid splicing of wires one can the wires should be connected together using the wiring harness. Such wiring harness can be bought from any car stereo shop.

The car stereo wires can be hidden under the carpet of the car. In order to avoid noise interference consult a local car shop about which wires should go opposite and which wire can be bundled together . The flexible cable tubing is made flat so as to lay it under the floor. A key point to be noted is that the wires are to be kept away from the sharp objects and hidden wires as they can easily damaged by these objects. The Velcro stripping material can be used keep the cable fixed and this reduces the need for drills and so saves us a lot of time.

The wires to the speakers at the rear, sub-woofers, amplifiers and the crossovers can be hidden behind the side of the car and panels. Instructions should be followed to remove it with no damage.

The wires are hid behind the trunk carpet in the back side of the car. There are special connectors showing off the connections only at the sub-woofer and the amplifier. Some installations may require custom built panels which covers the wires completely.

For a proper and cool look of the car stereo hiding the wire is very essential, but how to hide wiring in auto stereo installation is a question which can be answered easily by the above steps.

Connecting A Battery Isolator

The following article shows how to connect a battery isolator. The isolator is installed when the car needs a second battery. This will be required by cars that have bigger stereos. Since more power is needed second battery is added with the help of an isolator.

Battery isolator is a device that instructs the alternator to charge the secondary battery and also protect the primary battery from being drained. Battery isolator can be of different type but the most efficient and cheapest of them is solenoid type isolator where the isolator connection is achieved when the engine is on, off when the engine is off .The instructions on how to connect a battery isolator follows.

A 4 gauge battery cable run from the positive terminal of the second battery to the terminal on the battery isolator on the left hand side. The end of each side of the wire is striped about half inch from the end. A terminal on to each end is crimped using a terminal crimper. Then the positive terminal on the second battery is connected to the terminal on the isolator using a 3/8 inch ratchet and socket.

A 18 gauge wire run from the ignition terminal on the battery isolator through a grommet in the firewall and the above one is made to run to the steering column on the interior. The wire is probed with the test light and the ignition is turned to the on position then off it. this is done to check the settings. An ignition lead is there when the light turns on when it is on and turns off when it is off. The 18 gauge wire is connected to the ignition wire using a blue Scotchlok connector.

In the next step a 18 gauge wire’s section is run from the battery’s ignition terminal to the steering column through a grommet . A 18 gauge wire is connected to the ignition wire with the help of blue scotchlok connector and a needle nosed pliers is used to crimp it tightly.

After the connections is checked strip the one end of the lengthy wire using a wire stripper and clamp it with a ring type crimper and fix it to the battery isolator’s ignition terminal using the socket and ratchet. For grounding run a wire from the ground terminal of the isolator the the ground point on the frame and bolt the wires to ensure a tight connection.

A wire fixed on the frame near to the passenger is a good ground point. Both the ends of the wires are fixed with a ring terminal by using a wire crimper and then it is connected to the ground using a 3/8 ratchet and socket. A four gauge wire is run from the second battery’s negative terminal to the ground. By doing all these the second battery can be made to charge.

Thus the article helps us to learn how to connect a battery isolator.

Why Consumers Like Lexus IS 250c?

With some few changes in the 2006 predecessor, the Lexus IS 250c is one of the best cars made by Lexus so far because of its wonderful and outstanding performance. This time they have introduced a Lexus sports vehicle, which is a diesel variant. This car is, no doubt, in direct competition with 3-series of BMW, A4 of Audi and Mercedes-Benz C300. Some people still feel that it is not a vehicle that can provide much excitement, but in reality, it provides amazing ride and handling, which has been a great factor in attracting the consumers.

If one is shopping for a lesser expensive but luxury sedan with a sporty look, Lexus IS 250c is, without a doubt, an ideal option, which is lesser powerful than the pricier IS350 but offers all the other features of the current IS series, including accurate handling, a top-class interior and a variety of high-tech features.

Although this is one of the smallest in the Lexus series, but still offers a brilliant and comfy ride. A great amount of damping results in the ironing out of almost anything a moderate quality rode can shoot at the drive. Although defeated by BMW in terms of outright road holding, Lexus IS 250c makes long distances joyous even on dodgy and broken motorways. 154kW for 2.5-litre to be exact, V6 does not really provide the expected experience justice. With a top speed of 230 km/h, it provides a sprint you are looking for in an unbelievable 8.1 seconds. This comfy and performing ride is, without any doubt, a competitor to BMW ownership.

Lexus IS 250c is a masterpiece of engineering as all parts are very well put together. This car has been adorned very well with the Japanese-spec wood-made from a fine quality plastic. The handling of the car is an experience in itself with the rear-wheel drive makes the most of what it has got in either petrol or diesel form. For the speed lovers, the diesel may cause some noise, but it still has the class that is not present in the European front-drive sedans. Steering is not that smooth as was expected from it.

This model of Lexus IS 250 is very practical when it comes to the space as it can easily accommodate four to five people. Even with this, it still cannot be called an ideal piece as regards to the seating space. The running cost of the car is very reasonable with just 9.8 L/100 km.

The car has received both types of reviews from the consumers; some have given positive reviews while others have given negative reviews. One consumer said that he found the car very comfortable and sporty and that it has a very elegant look as well. It is equipped with very cool features that make it fun to drive this car. The car is an excellent piece overall. Whereas, one of the consumers has commented that the brakes of the car squeaks when the driver backs up.

Fast, luxurious and safe, the Lexus IS 250 is right up there with its German competitors.

Detailed information about the Lexus IS 250c is availiable. Why not book a test drive now!

Understanding Traffic Law And Speeding Tickets

Speeding tickets are the number one violator of traffic law. Though there are several ways you can do this–including many different kinds of speeding tickets, or parking tickets–the most common is probably the speeding ticket. How you are punished, however, depends on you.

Firstly, depending on the country or state you are in you could receive points against your license, fines, double fines, or more serious charges. This all depends on the crime, your history, the officer, and the area. There are no fast rules about speeding tickets world wide–remember that if you are planning on going on vacation and driving.

Speeding is often combined with other crimes. The minor crimes include: just not going the speed limit, failing seat belt safety, or not stopping at lights or signs. There are other minor crimes but speeding is the biggest one because it is the easiest one to catch. It is very easy to tell who is speeding and who is not. Police officers are trained to tell how fast a car is moving just by looking at it–and most can tell within five miles an hour.

Major crimes that can be combined with speeding are: running your car all over the road and endangering others, running from the cops if you are pulled over, or driving while intoxicated or high. Sadly, these things often coincide with normal speeding tickets, causing the charges brought against the driver to be far higher.

And if you have been pulled over more than once in recent years, perhaps it is time to take a refresher course on driving. If you keep getting pulled over, your record is not going to do you any favors. This goes for all crimes, not just speeding. The first time you get pulled over, the officer may let you off with just a warning. But if you get a ticket, pay it off right away so it will not follow you around.

The United States allows drivers to get ten points against their licenses before the license is suspended. Some people think this is being too soft on speeders, since speeding usually only gives you a point or two. Bigger crimes can get you an automatic suspension, though. And if you have suspended your license twice, you better hope you do not get pulled over again, because it will be irrevocably taken from you.

If speeders were punished harder, there would be fewer deaths or tickets issued. And, sadly, just about everyone will get a ticket before they are done driving. Take your time and do not take risks.

New Jersey traffic tickets or New York traffic ticket can have a very bad impact on your driving record, never pay them, always fight them.

How To Find The Best Rates On Car Rentals

In a perfect world, renting a car would be a straightforward process. Unfortunately, with all of the surcharges and fees that are tacked onto car rental rates, the process of trying to get the most for your money can get confusing and time-consuming. When a person needs to rent a car, whether for a vacation or business purposes, there is really no way around it, so it pays to be a smart consumer by doing extensive research and gaining a full understanding of the various added expenses that are involved. Before jumping into a car rental agreement, consider a few of the tips below that will help you realize the best rates possible.

Research pays This is probably an example of overstating the obvious, but it is a great idea to perform multiple levels of research when trying to find the best rental car rates. The advertised rate of a certain vehicle may increase exponentially if hefty fees are added to the final price, so it is a good idea to study up on the individual policies of several rental agencies. It is also a wise move to search for personal reviews of various rental car entities in an effort to gauge overall customer satisfaction with respect to rates.

Bidding sites are another great way to get a deal on you rental car. There are many sites on the Internet that allow you, the customer, to place a bid in for a rental car and have the bid picked up by a company. By utilizing this service you have the opportunity to rent a luxury car at the price of an economy vehicle.

Understand “the game” It is pretty clear that car rental companies thrive on tacking on charges, so it is a smart idea to learn as much as possible about the process in an effort to avoid costly add-on expenses. First of all, do not buy their insurance if your primary auto insurance covers you with respect to rental cars, and never return your rental car with anything less than a full tank of gas, or you will get zapped. If it is at all feasible to have just one person do all of the driving, then it is possible to save up to $25 a day on second driver fees. Finally, if there are two people traveling together, and one of them is under 25-years old, have the older member of the party rent the vehicle.

Comparison shop and ask for discounts Be sure to compare the rates of several different companies, as prices for renting the same vehicle can vary by up to 25%. Check online prices versus over-the-phone prices, and it never hurts to beg for a discount. Many types of credit, store, and service company cards offer rental car discounts to their card-holders.

Some Directions On How To Set Up Active Crossover

The following article shows how to set an active crossover. They are important for all audio system. By means of frequency the signals are filtered and for better clarity they are directed to the best amplifier and speakers. Generally any car audio system should have an active crossover to be used. They are also used in public meetings and in theatres mostly. An audio system namely the tri-amped is an active crossover and is needed to install the crossovers.

A three way crossover is typically used for audio systems in car. Therefore for setting up active crossover, the following things will be required: three way active crossover, a tri amped audio system, and few basic tools.

In the first step, the active crossover is mounted somewhere between the head unit of the stereo and the amplifiers of the system. There are two options of the location of the crossovers. If the crossovers do not have to be disturbed or adjusted after installing it, they can be placed below the panel of the dash. This way it cannot be disturbed. But in case the user wants it to be easily accessible for repairing, it can be placed below the seat or in trunk.

The audio signal is then connected from the stereo to the crossover. The inputs in the crossover are connected to the stereo and the outputs to the amplifier in such a way that the low signal and high signal are connected to subwoofer amplifier and the tweeters respectively.

The required electrical connections are made. Since the crossover uses twelve volt direct current connection it needs a connection with the battery. Additional connections are to be made to the chassis of the car for the ground line. It is advisable to connect to the electrical signal that is switched on by the ignition. This ensures that the battery is not drained.

A high pass filter of the cross over can be set for 3000 Hz which allows frequencies like cymbals and acoustics harmonics to pass through. The frequencies below 80 Hz and above 3000 Hz are cut off.

The next step is to set band pass filter. This is set between the low and high pass.

Then a typical music is played through the system and respective filters are adjusted so that it would match the amplifiers and speakers. If suppose one filter range is adjusted others also require the same to compensate for the one adjusted. If the low pass is changed to a value of 90 HZ then a change should be done on the band pass band pass to have the frequency at 90 HZ than to have a value of 80 though there is a chance for the overlap. Sometimes it may be useful which depends on the system. Thus the article shows how to set up active crossovers in a suitable place to adjust some problems occurring later. The frequency should also be checked that it should not damage the speakers.
