Three Supreme Japanese Automakers

Japan has been manufacturing vehicles for nearly as long as America, to the wonder of some. Because the American car business has changed, so has Japan’s. To this day, however, Japan still has the best concentration of automakers of any country on earth: 9 to be exact. 3, but, are real standouts producing not only top quality vehicles but reaching well beyond Japan to any or all corners of the planet. Let’s take a peek at the prime 3 and how they’re impacting the North American market.

Toyota - As the largest of all Japanese automakers, Toyota ranks only second to General Motors in international production. Toyota vehicles were 1st introduced to the North American market within the Sixties and were, at the time, widely panned by critics as being too small and inferior in quality. By the late Nineteen Seventies, Toyota excellence levels began to exceed the business standard. Nowadays, some consider Toyota the benchmark by which all automobile lines are judged; the corporate’s Lexus line of luxury cars and Scion brand of youth oriented vehicles are also leaders in their respective classes.

Honda - The only thing Honda lacks versus Toyota is size. Still, after you compare Honda cars with comparable Toyota models, Honda holds its own. The first Honda, a Civic, was introduced to the North Yank market in 1971 and was soon followed by the Accord furthermore as the Prelude. Routinely, the Accord battles Toyota’s Camry for the high spot in U.S. car sales year in and year out, whereas the Honda Odyssey battles the Toyota Sienna for the highest quality minivan [Chrysler's minivans still are the simplest sellers]. Acura is Honda’s luxury automotive division which has additionally competed successfully with Toyota’s Lexus line up.

Nissan - Toyota and Honda are the only two totally independent Japanese automakers left in the world nowadays as Nissan has since ceded control to Renault, France’s largest automaker. The primary Nissans to hit the North American market did so in the Sixties beneath the Datsun model name. By the early Eighties the Datsun name was jettisoned in favor of Nissan and these days the Nissan name is equated with some of the highest quality cars on the road. In the late Eighties Nissan launched the Infiniti division, a maker of luxurious automobiles that routinely battles with the likes of BMW, Lexus, Acura, Cadillac, and Mercedes as a prime supplier of opulent cars.

So, there you’ve got it. Three prime Japanese brands that have created a reputation for themselves. You may not own a Toyota, a Honda, or a Nissan, however you have got to give credit where credit is due: all 3 automakers are proven leaders in a very highly competitive and every changing industry.

Buying a Used Car

Do you need to replace your old car? Maybe you cannot afford a new car. You need a quality vehicle, that you can depend on. You do not have to take many chances when buying a used car. Here are some things to consider.

Call your local Better Business Bureau. The BBB will have complaints and issues on problem dealers. If a dealer has complaints and those complaints have been resolved, it’s a good indication that they may be worth your business. Ask people you know for referrals. Talk to car dealers before you go there. This may give you idea as to how they conduct business.

You will eliminate risk, when you shop a reputable dealer. Their cars will have a warranty. They inspect their cars and fix any problems. You can get vehicle histories if you like. There is no exact standard for used car certification. A reputable dealer will have their certification in writing for you to see.

You may pay more for a quality car. A reputable dealer pays more for better cars. It also costs more to repair any problems. You will also receive a good warranty with one of these cars.

Some car dealers may have shady practices. They may try to sell you a car based only on the payment. This is to hide to the total cost of the car. Ask the dealer about the history of the car. Ask about the warranty. If they cannot tell you, do not buy. Never assume anything that you are told. A reputable dealer will put things in writing.

Buying from an individual

You may get a good car from a private party. However, you may not. This person is not in the used car business. They might be what is called, a curbstone car dealer. They sell cars to make a quick profit. They may appear as a private party. Do they have more than one vehicle listed for sale? Has the title already been signed by the seller? This is an open title and is illegal in most states.

Final thoughts

Buying a used car should not be a bad experience. Be careful with whom you do business. If you can get a car cheap, be doubtful. If you buy from an individual, you may not know what you are getting. Buy from a reputable used car dealer for the best deals. You will get a warranty and a good car for your money.

Maximise Your Car Lights with Upgrade Car Bulbs

Osram is the leading manufacturer of automotive lighting products, and their products are used as standard equipment by many of the major leading car manufacturers. However alongside their standard range of 12 volt headlight bulbs, Osram has also produced an upgrade range of headlight bulbs for drivers looking for improved lighting and styling performance from their headlight bulbs.

Currently there are three types of upgrade headlight bulbs available called Osram Cool Blue, Osram Silver Star and Osram Night Breaker. All of these upgrade bulbs are completely road legal and come with the European testing standards E1 mark, and because they are designed to replace your standard headlight bulbs they will fit into your existing headlight bulb holders and therefore do not need any special tools to fit them or modifications.

To determine which of the new Osram headlight bulbs you want it is best to find out what light bulbs your vehicle already has. This information can be found in two different places. Your car’s owner manual should list the style and rating of your headlight bulbs. Your other option is to use the words “Car Bulbs Finders” in the Google search engine. It will then list online auto bulb dealers, which have car guides online for you to use.

The Osram Cool Blue series are designed for drivers who want to stand out from the crowd and give their headlights a really distinctive night time look. The Cool Blue bulbs have blue filtered glass, which emits a blue tinted light that is very similar to high intensity discharge xenon bulbs.

With the Osram Cool Blue you will need to understand the ECE rules. There are limits to the amount of blue tint you can have on a headlight bulb. Osram ensures that their Cool Blue is within that limit. In fact it is the darkest street legal light you can have for your car.

The Silver Star Osram option has been created for night time sight. They are better than the halogen standard lights vehicles are made with. This is due to the 50 percent more light the Osram Silverstar generates over that of the regular halogen bulb. This power of light works well in 50 to 75 metre distances, which helps the motorist see probable dangers, obstacles, or signs.

The top upgrade from Osram is the Night Breaker series. The Night Breaker is made with xenon gas which is pressurised inside the glass. It also has an upgrade to the filament. The results of this change offer 90 percent more light. It also has a longer range by 35 metres in darkness, with 10 percent whiter light emitted.

Keen motorists who want the best sight and performance from their headlights should make the choice of the Osram Night Breaker.

It is simple to improve your standard headlight bulbs when you choose the Osram Cool Blue, Nightbreaker, or Silver Star. Night safety and sight is greatly improved and any of these three bulbs can fit your needs well.

If you want to maximise the light from your headlights you should upgrade to Xenon Bulbs, which produce nearly twice as much light as ordinary halogen bulbs. Modern xenon bulbs, like the Osram Night Breaker range, will transform your car lights to make night driving a more pleasurable experience.

A Brief Overview Of The Lexus LS 600h

LS are considered a flagship of Lexus, as it is a huge four-door luxury car. The car has a very spacious interior, specially its rear. To maintain the Lexus standards, the interior of the LS has been made with the finest material, and the finish is superb. On the other hand, the exterior of the car is equally elegant.

It can be said that if all the cars were made on the lines of LS, no one would go for another car. This is because the body of the car is very attractive. In addition, the Lexus LS 600h is highly comfortable. Due to the excellent noise insulation, the passengers are barred from the outside world. The passengers feel highly comfortable due to its comfortable seats.

The Lexus LS 600h is a hybrid, and has a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine along with an electric motor. At low speeds (till about 30mph), the electric motor supplies the power. If a sudden burst of speed is required, the petrol engine starts up. The four-wheel drive Lexus LS 600h does the zero to sixty-two miles per hour dash in 6.3 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 155mph.

This means that this huge and beautiful luxury car is not a slow car by any means. The petrol-electric setup produces 439bhp, and the electric motor ensures that there is an extra dose of power always available. The LS 600h has a continuous transmission, so engine speed is optimised.

The automobile is equipped with fully electric power steering. It handles turnings function nicely, and there is almost no body roll. Its changeable gear ratio system of steering changes the input needed for the steering. For its parking, and some other tight exercises, it involves negligible contribution of the steering.

The vehicle dynamic integrated management system combines emergency steering assist with stability control to provide a faster response in a sudden maneuver. The ride quality of the Lexus LS 600h is extremely smooth, and it handles all road surfaces with ease.

If the roof is up the external noise is completely shut off. The four-way climate control of the car ensures total comfort. To avoid unpleasant draughts, the Air diffusers are set into the roof lining. The front seats are electrically adjustable. However, the LS 600h L, long wheelbase, has a relaxation pack. The most amazing feature of this car is that the rear seat behind the driver reclines fully, and has a massage function. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the parking assist system virtually parks the car itself in parallel parking. The rear-parking monitors and parking sensors are part of the standard equipment. As the battery packs, the boot space is just 325 litres, which is definitely very less.

All of its models possess a classy braking and stability system together with ten airbags. The apparatus that comes with the LS 600h are satellite navigation, Bluetooth, electric rear blind, DVD, 6 CD changer, Mark Levinson music system in addition to adaptive headlights. It possesses 19-inch alloys, and backside cool box, card entry, heated wheel of steering, and the car contains leather throughout its interior. Hence, this is a real luxury automobile; as it is a hybrid, hence it is cost-effective too.

Lexus IS 250c - What You Need To Know

The new and striking looking Lexus IS 250C convertible has been successful in outshining the only current convertible model of Toyota luxury division, the Lexus SC 430. The car was shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and it is equipped with all the facilities, and features buyers have come to expect from a luxury convertible, power-folding hardtop, and 6 speed automatic transmissions. The only downturn is an underwhelming, gasoline V6 engine.

The improved designed Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 has received wide acclamation, as a luxury sport sedan, leaning more towards the luxury end of the spectrum than other manufacturers are offering, like a BMW 3 Series or Audi A4. Irrespective of the fact that it has a bit hard interior, the car still remains an amazing driving experience.

Talking about the style of this car, the looks of the 2010 IS 250 resembles a lot to that of the SC 430. This is definitely a good marketing point. For highly hard-core enthusiasts, a more IS-F influence could have been a great benefit. However, the IS 250C is, over all, an attractive car delivering open sports car philosophy than other competing luxury car marquees.

It has the quickest time of folding the hard convertible top, which is just 20 seconds, and it stows away in the IS 250C trunk, leaving behind a crisp and clean main body line with only minimally invasive breaks in the bodywork. One added feature is the subtle boat-tail rear spoiler, adding to its attractiveness, and blending in well. This feature was absent in the Lexus IS 250 and IS 350.

True sports car fans have never taken a liking to the SC 430, which replaced the SC 400. It is too feminine, they say. The 2010 Lexus IS 250C is a big step in the right direction for Lexus convertible models, though we would still prefer more of the sharp lines from the sedan and “F” models.

When it comes to the performance of the car, the Lexus IS 250C is an outstanding car. When the car was debuted at the Paris 2008, its style was elaborated. However, can this car make it big only based on its looks? It looks like Lexus is trying to follow the Ford example of selling more V6 Mustangs than the high power V8 models.

The fact is that in case of an output of 208 Horsepower, a comparison between the Lexus and numerous four-cylinder engines in the market can be conducted. The question remains that how can Lexus explain this strategy, and there is a possibility of Lexus having something yet to reveal.

A Tiptronic-style 6 speed automatic will provide the gear ratios to ensure the IS 250C uses its full horsepower potential. As far as marketing strategy is concerned, it would not make much sense if the Lexus goes head to head with the likes of Infiniti G37, BMW 3 Series or Audi A4 convertible buyers.

It can be a good start from Lexus and a definite bold step up from the lacklustre SC 430. Those who do pick up an IS 250C, when available worldwide next spring, will likely wish for more.

Detailed information about the Lexus IS 250c is availiable. Why not book a test drive now!

Attempting Your Own Brake Repair

Often times you will need to bleed the brake system with brake repair. You should bleed and flush your brakes, every two years or 24,000 miles.

Your brakes fluid has the ability to absorb moisture. This happens, a tiny amount at a time. When brakes fluid absorbs moisture, it protects the brake parts. However, it may get to the point to where it can absorb no more. This can cause your brakes to wear and corrode. Brakes are the most important part of your car. You have to be able to stop when you want to and receive diesel emission testing.

Bleeding brakes is not the most enjoyable of activities. It is however, one of the most important. When you bleed the brakes, you force air out of the hydraulic system. Air enters the system when certain repairs are made. Removing anything connected to the hydraulic lines will allow air to enter. It can also slowly enter over time.

The hydraulic system gradually absorbs moisture. During braking, the fluid can get hot. It will boil and evaporate water. When the water leaves, it can be replaced by air. Air in a hydraulic system can cause it to stop working. When you put your brakes on, the hydraulic fluid is under enormous pressure. Air in the system will compress and defeat the purpose of hydraulics.

Take the top off your brake master cylinder. The fluid may be cloudy or discolored. There may be rust and corrosion in it. You may need to flush out the old fluid and replace it with new. If you have help, you can do it without too much difficulty.

Always make sure you get the right type brake fluid. You will probably need Dot 3, but you cannot be sure. Look in your car manual. You may be able look on the master cylinder, also.

You will want to start with the rear wheel away from the master cylinder. Then you go to the other back wheel, then front wheel across from the master cylinder and so on. Have your assistant pump the brake pedal. Then he should press it down and hold it. It will travel to the floor when the bleeder valve is opened. You will notice air and air bubbles coming from the bleeder valve. Keep the brake pedal to the floor. Tighten the bleeder valve. Repeat until all air is removed. Go to the next wheel. Make sure you catch the brake fluid in something.

In closing

Many times, brake repair will involve bleeding air from the lines. You should flush and bleed your brakes every two years or 24,000 miles. Check your car manual for details. Bleeding is not usually complicated if you have help.
