Hybrid Car Rental Options

The last six years have seen the increase on demand for hybrid cars by 50%. It’s no surprise how much of an effect they have had on the average driver and consumer but it seems that hybrid is definitely the future of the automobile industry; so much so, in fact, that it’s also not a shock to see hybrid car rental companies sprouting up here and there.

On the Rise

Even before the introduction of electric hybrid, though, car rental companies that support environment-friendly vehicles have been around. They were renting out other vehicles that were either purely electric or were using power sources other than the fuel and electric combination as well as the conventional gas-powered cars as well. As soon as hybrid electric vehicles were introduced, it was inevitable for these companies to add them to their rosters as well.

Advantage

It is just as well that these car rental agencies exist to address the demand for the use of hybrid electric cars. For the consumer, it will be a good opportunity to test out a hybrid before making the decision to purchasing to own one. By renting one out for a week or so, a person will be able to determine if the hybrid electric definitely will do what manufacturers say it will do.

This is especially important because not all hybrid vehicles are the same. The concept behind the technology may be the same for all manufacturers but there are a few key differences between hybrid models released by various car companies.

Savings

Hybrid car rental companies also make it much easier for travelers to get around. Travelers who do use hybrid cars will most definitely be spending much less on gas since hybrid electric vehicles can run for much longer on lesser amounts of gas.

If things keep up, hybrid cars will definitely do much better than their gas-fueled counterparts as far as car rental is concerned. This also means that car rental agencies that do rent out hybrid vehicles will probably rent them out at even cheaper prices since fuel rates will not be too much of a concern for them.

Since hybrid vehicles don’t have too many complicated mechanical engine parts under the hood, it’s also much easier to maintain. Since they are simple and get the job done more efficiently and in an eco-friendly way, consumers not only save money, but they end up saving the world from hazardous carbon dioxide emissions as well.

There are only a handful of hybrid car rental companies but this is going to change in the very near future since the demand for hybrid vehicles is quickly on the rise. Perhaps through these hybrid car rental agencies, people will learn to appreciate hybrid vehicles even more which will hopefully lead to their use over gas guzzlers in the city streets and highways.

Don’t know which 2009 hybrid cars to buy? You can try out a hybrid car rental to help you decide.

The Hybrid Car Engine

The hybrid car engine holds the key to its being an environment-friendly vehicle. They are a combination of a gas engine and an electric motor that assists a car as it accelerates, slows down and even when it stops. Throughout all these basic actions, the hybrid car engine plays a major role so that the least amount of gas is used and cleaner emissions achieved.

Breaking It Down

Because of the hybrid car’s gas-electric engine, it can run both on gas and electricity. A gas-powered car has a fuel tank and it is this tank that supplies the engine with the gasoline it needs to run. The engine then turns a transmission which is what it essentially behind the turning of wheels.

An electric car has a set of batteries that provides power to an electric motor. In this case, it is the electric motor that turns the transmission that turns the wheels. Although mileage is something that gas-powered cars have been covering with great efficiency in later years, there is still the issue of air pollution, which is something a hybrid car is a solution to.

Since it doesn’t run on gas alone, hybrid motor almost doesn’t produce any pollution at all. But an electric car can only go so far before having to be charged again. Now, by combining these two functions into one, a hybrid car engine attempts to increase mileage while reducing emissions of a gas-powered car and also reducing the use of large amounts of fuel. And to make up for the electric motor having to be charged, it is now left to the gas-powered engine and transmission to charge the cells in the batteries found in a hybrid electric vehicle. It’s a simple solution that has had great and positive effects with respect to fuel economy and eco-friendliness.

Cutting Costs

The hybrid car engine is known to help keep carbon dioxide emissions down, and thus, keep pollution at minimum level as well. But most importantly (to average consumers), hybrid cars can save you money gas and maintenance costs. The engines of these cars are quite small and easy to manage so they last for a very long time and are quite durable.

In selecting your hybrid car, it’s always best to consider those manufacturers that offer free part replacements for the model you have in mind. There is also the added tax break that the US government has promised to all owners of new hybrid vehicles purchased after January 1 2006.

Both manufacturers and consumers have finally found a way to save the environment as well as the economy. It is perhaps one of the most overlooked technologies in the world but a growing awareness of these vehicles will eventually lead to a future of more hybrid electric vehicles on city streets and highways.

Review of 2007 Hybrid Cars

The auto industry has seen the emergence of different technologies on hybrid electric cars following Toyota’s release of its first model, Prius, in 2001. Of course, the concept of hybrid cars is still the same as in all cars. The difference lies in the engine designs. Reviews has it that the 2007 hybrid cars are now more auto technologically-advanced than any car manufactured before. And the best part is that car manufacturers all over are aiming to develop even better hybrid cars in the future to compete in the market! Here are some examples of the more popular hybrid cars for the year.

The Toyota Prius

The 2007 hybrid car from Toyota remains to be the most reliable and most fuel efficient in the industry. For a little over $1 of gas, this vehicle can manage just about 25 miles; now that is economy. Not new to the market, the Prius has been promoting change in the automobile industry since it first appeared in 2001. It’s a mid-sized car that can be well mistaken for a compact and it has the smallest tank for its class and makes sure it doesn’t waste even a smidgen of fuel.

Saturn Aura Hybrid Car

The sedan, Saturn definitely knows how to turn heads with its looks. But that it perhaps as far as its edge goes. A peep under the hood would tell us that more than an attractive hybrid sedan, the Saturn may just as well be mistaken as a thirsty elephant lapping up as much as 16 gallons of gas, thus, relinquishing its would-have-been place at the list cost and fuel-efficient hybrid cars for 2007. Hybrid car reviews in magazines are just as relentless, dubbing the Saturn as one of the worst performing hybrid cars of the year.

Nissan Altima Hybrid

As far as fuel economy is concerned, the 2007 Nissan Altima is really quite the player in the field. Albeit the 2007 model mean that you would have to cash out about $1200 a year on fuel alone, the 2007 hybrid from Nissan still manages to go as far as 702 miles on full tank. It seems to beat its competition in Toyota hybrid but the trick is that Nissan actually has a larger tank that holds as much as 20 gallons of fuel. For the more careful hybrid fan, it may not be prudent to go for the Altima but for those who find gas stops a hassle, the 2007 Nissan Altima may just be the hybrid for them.

Honda Civic Hybrid

This 2007 hybrid car is probably the closest when it comes to beating out the competition in Toyota. The Honda Civic was known as a bestselling gas-car, and it seems that it can prove its own worth as a hybrid as well. With a slightly larger tank than the Prius, the Civic can do 554 miles on a full tank which is quite an improvement from the last model but theres still room for improvement. Otherwise, once Prius stocks run low, this would be the next best thing on the market.
