Automatic Car Alarms Help Prevent Theft
An automobile alarm is an audible security system which activates as a loud noise if a possible break-in is detected. Not only are these systems annoyingly loud, they also are often false alarms and consequently, often ignored. Many vehicle security systems currently exist which are much more technologically advanced.
Manufacturers have designed cutting edge technology to help reduce the billions of dollars of car theft reported annually. Using two-way communication devices, car security systems can alert you when your car’s engine has been started. Some newer systems have sensors to detect glass breakage. Others can be activated remotely and can even arm themselves passively, without the owner needing to remember to set the alarm.
You won’t hear an audible car alarm if you’re not near your vehicle. If your car is stolen while you’re on vacation, it may be many days before you know about it. Some car security systems will phone you or send you a text message if a break in occurs. A two-stage automatic car alarm can also tell you if the car’s engine is running, if the car is in motion, or if the car is stationary and has just been bumped into by someone.
If the car is in motion, then you can command the car alarm to cut power to the fuel pump, meaning the car will roll to a stop. But that may not be very helpful if your vehicle is being towed away and doesn’t need to be running. The newest generation of car security systems include GPS tracking so that you know where your car is at all times, even after it’s been stolen.
Preventing Car Jacking: Several models of vehicle security systems are now equipped with car jacking preventative mechanisms. These mechanisms allow you to turn off the supply of gas to the vehicle with the press of a button. Having this safety feature gives you options you would not otherwise have. The feature is generally activated by a switch that is near the seat belt release; when activated it shuts off the fuel supply and applies the brakes to stop the car. This features gives a person a good chance of preventing their car from being hijacked.
Frequently, these systems will alert the authorities in case of a car jacking. The majority of these systems are meant to notify the police in an expedient manner which is immeasurably important in emergency situations. Trying to catch a car thief who is attempting to steal your vehicle is quite dangerous. Your automatic car alarm will inform you via a phone call or a text message when something is amiss. You can then call the authorities and let them handle the situation, rather than putting yourself at risk.
